Register to climb at The Lock
Novice climbers
If you have never used a climbing wall before (or are under 18 years of age) then you are required to be signed-in and supervised by another registered, experienced adult. Together both you and your supervisor need to complete the supervised novice form.
Alternatively if you are 14-17 years old and wish to learn the necessary skills you can book onto a learn to climb course or hire one of our instructors for a bespoke session.
Experienced Adult Climber (18 years +)
To use The Lock Climbing Wall unsupervised, adults must have previous experience of climbing at an indoor wall. You do not have to be able to climb a certain grade, but you must be able to climb and belay safely in an indoor environment.
If you are a first time visitor you will need to complete an adult registration form and agree to our Conditions of Use and Rules before you can climb.
If you wish to become a member you can pay a one-off fee of £17 which entitles you to discounted entry, equipment and events.
Experienced Youth Climber (14-17 years)
Novice climbers who are under 18 years old require supervision from a competent adult who is a registered user of The Lock Climbing Wall. This can either be a parent, relative or friend who can complete a supervised novice form on your behalf. Alternatively, you could book one of our qualified instructors for a bespoke session.
If you are aged 14 to 17 and would like to climb without adult supervision, you can use our facilities after you have passed a Youth Assessment. This will test if you have the required skills and awareness to use our facilities and equipment safely. Assessments must be booked in advance and cost £12, this also includes your membership fee allowing you to receive further benefits. Youth Assessments can be booked via our office team. and you can download the youth registration and assessment form here.
